The architecture of the building follows two major user-centered principals based on SynThesis’ unique expertise on healthcare architecture and research. Firstly, the therapeutic design reinforces a regime of child-focused care. Moreover, the design prevents staff burn out.
The design follows the implementation of a sensitive multi-parametric model that deals with the spatial parameters of therapeutic architecture. The appropriate use of light, color, lines and shapes on one hand and the implementation of mechanisms of sensory activation on the other, transform this facility into a therapeutic tool.
The center was embraced by the local community. The staff noticed the reduction of children’s symptomatology and the contribution of space to their own health and wellbeing.
The project has been selected as one of the four best mental health projects at International Academy for Design and Health Awards in Singapore.
