This Victorian Gas Shade undergoes a number of unique finishing techniques.Once "baked" and freed from its mould, the lip is formed with an octopus-like tool called a dimpling mould which creates equidistant folds.A stencil is applied to the exterior, and the shade is dipped in an acid which removes a thin layer of glass outside the stencil's design. A slightly raised pattern remains where the stencil was. Finally, tin chloride is applied to give the shade its iridescent, mother-of-pearl appearance.Pair it with the 116I on Gas & Electric-Style lighting like the Forest Park and Gas-Style Wall Brackets like the Newberg.
