Crystal Etch, noted by the "CE" suffix at the end of the item number, is created by applying acid or sandblasting clear glass on one or both sides of the shade. In this case, etched glass and "frosted" glass are essentially the same things. While frosted shades soften lightbulb glare, they're not opaque like their opal cousins (see the 156OP for a description of opal glass). A lightbulb halo is visible within frosted glass shades. You can diminish this bulb halo a bit by using clear glass incandescent lightbulbs.(Note to self: Next time "frosted" is discussed, bring cupcakes). See more shades with a 2 1/4" fitter.
