Group Goetz Architects has been servicing the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) for the past nine years through an IDIQ contract. Originally, the firm was hired to provide furniture systems planning services for the PBGC's field offices nationwide. Shortly after the client's move into the new 295,000 SF headquarters, GGA was again retained, this time to provide interior architectural and design services. The project, of approximately 70,000 SF, required the reorganization of one of the PBGC's main departments and the introduction of a new teamed management concept. This had to be accomplished with as little disruption as possible, in addition to meeting all PBGC guidelines and working for approval with the workers union. GGA developed a close working relationship with the PBGC's facilities group ensuring timely approval of all client and union standards. Given the logistics of such an exercise and its scale, including the dislocation of personnel and the rapid schedule, the project was successfully completed. The team effort, efficiency and success of this project have fostered an enduring relationship with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
