Nearly 800 years ago the Mimbreno Culture flourished in southern New Mexico. It is best known for its distinctive black and white figurative pottery. Chaco Design perpetuates the Mimbreno images in the 'Mimbres' cornices. The segments are of tooled copper inset in wooden frames. They include a deer, turtle, bear, lizard, and rabbit. The Fetish animal has played an important role in sacred art. These animals were symbolic of nature and the ways of life. They hold good luck, as well as fertility in life. Set them to play!
