Butt-Glazed Fire-Rated System with Nearly Colorless Transitions

The Fireframes ClearView® System from Technical Glass Products (TGP) allows design professionals to closely match the continuous glass wall aesthetic popular in non-rated glazing applications while providing critical fire resistance. The interior system is comprised of butt-glazed Pilkington Pyrostop®, low-iron fire-rated and impact safety-rated glass with a narrow (5 mm) butt joint and a heat resistive perimeter frame. The butt-glazed joints feature nearly colorless transitions between adjoining pieces of the low-iron glass, eliminating the need for colored internal glass unit spaces or vertical frame mullions. The result is longer spans of uninterrupted glass free of vertical mullions, improved views and enhanced light transmission. To further enhance architectural design possibilities, the perimeter of each butt-glazed elevation is held in place by the designer’s choice of Fireframes® Heat Barrier Series (rated for 60/20 minutes), Fireframes® Aluminum Series (rated for 60 minutes) and L-angle steel frames by others (rated for 60/120 minutes) to meet specific project goals. The Fireframes ClearView System is available with fire ratings for up to 60 and 120 minutes, passes the required hose stream test and protects against radiant and conductive heat transfer per ASTM E-119. The system is impact safety rated, meeting CPSC 16CFR1201 (Cat. II). It is classified and labeled with Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
