19th Century Louis XIV Style Gray Marble Mantel

Hand carved light gray marble mantel with a very unique center motif of a lion’s head, a man’s face, and floral details. This is a large scale marble fireplace surround, with exceptionally deep side panels, and open space behind the shelf to surround the chimney wall. There are carved raised panels on the front and sides of the surround, with angled corbels with acanthus leaves below corner motifs of miniature flowers between fluted openings. It also includes a serpentine opening surrounding the firebox. This is a spectacular antique mantel imported from Europe and is in very good to excellent condition.
