Narrative Up Stool

This tall stool is ideal for kitchen bar height. The seat pan gently contours for comfort. Tapered legs give a sturdy stance while the functional brace also works as a footrest.

The Narrative CollectionThe Narrative collection from Context Furniture provides surfaces and seating that showcase wood as both a natural material as well as a material of industry. Each Context Furniture design offers refined elegance in its form. Durable and substantial, the line works well in commercial and residential environments. All pieces in the 2004 Narrative series combine laminated Baltic birch plywood with a hardwood accent in standard selections of walnut, maple or mahogany. Each piece is finished with a satin lacquer. Additional wood species are available upon request. Custom sizes may be specified. The Context GroupContext was founded by husband wife team Bryce and Kerry Moore. Their experimentation and exploration sparked the essence of Context furniture. Bryce's background in craft and Kerry's in graphics merged during the design process; the result is the unconventional use of materials and a group both exquisitely crafted and dramatically enhanced with graphic accents. The ProcessEach design begins as an outline; a profile intended to communicate the essence the object, an ideal graphic icon of “chair” or “stool”. A hardwood stripe is incorporated in every piece, reinforcing the marriage of craft with graphic, industrial with natural, mass production with hand craftsmanship. Integrity of workmanship and planning drives each stage of development and construction of Context Furniture. Each piece of furniture provides an open window onto this process by exposing each layer of development in the final work.Bryce & Kerry Moore BiographyContext Furniture Manufacturing is a new and emerging company in the high-end segment of the contemporary market. Husband and wife team Bryce and Kerry Moore developed the studio and designs with a strong belief that modernism was a concept they could expand upon. As a result they developed the Narrative Collection that appeals to people who love modern concepts but enjoy the warmth and detail of handcrafted furniture. They named the company Context because their emphasis lies in merging new materials and techniques with classic forms and methods. The two soon moved to the Detroit area where Bryce furthered his study of furniture at the College for Creative Studies, and Kerry worked as a graphic designer for automotive companies. During a prolific period for them both, the lines between their disciplines began to blur. They were intrigued with concepts of simplicity in archetypal forms, finding order in random patterns, and how individualism contrasts with conformity. The messages they wanted to communicate came together in the process, materials and forms of their furniture. The couple's strengths complemented each other, Bryce's, an emphasis on craft, and Kerry's expertise as graphic artist. Excited by their initial offering, the two are focusing on new methods and designs. They hope to work with alternative materials and develop processes that communicate their primary goals of creating objects relevant to their time and culture.
