These peoples sought to possess some quality they believed the animal possessed. Bear clans, for example, hoped to gain certain positive powers owned by the bear. They ultimately hoped possessing these powers would lead to harmony in the universe. Some animal symbols also represent messengers between worlds and dimensions. Heart lines in the animals represent life force, vital organs and reproduction.The Grecca or Stepped Motifs symbolize good harvest or rain invocations. Sometimes they depict terraced corn plantings; sometimes they are a form of lightning to invoke rain; and sometimes they are simple geometrics to invoke peace and tranquility.
