This one-of-a-kind sampler contains appliqued letters and pictorial images possibly intended to teach a child with. Because this is not the entire alphabet, the letters probably represent initials of people important to the maker or recipient. The appliques are fashioned from printed cottons of the era, sewn to a denim-like workclothes twill sky blue background. The edge is blanket stitched in red thread.
