Alhambra

Best of 2024

Discover Alhambra: inspired by the refined expression of beauty and emotion of the sun-soaked Moorish Alhambra palace, this pattern plays hide and seek with intricate mosaics and vegetal motifs. Its dynamic design and striking colours create the most inspiring environments.

Delicate intricacies

The Arabic name ‘al-Hamra’ means ‘the red fortress’, celebrating nature’s dance of light and sun on warm evenings. The Alhambra design beckons with its delicate filigree of ornamental motifs and ever-unfolding details, inviting you on a journey of exploration and delight. Each glance reveals new intricacies, weaving together echoes of history and whispers of elegance.

The design represents a patchwork of Mediterranean patterns, each of which can be found in the Alhambra palace in Granada. The design is slightly faded and worn, to mimic the authentic, ancient look and to create a smooth appearance across the floor. The pattern is repeated only after 14 meters.

10 striking shades

Alhambra’s colour palette varies from the azure hues of the Andalusian sky to the earthy warmth of sienna and umber tones in the surrounding hills.  There are 10 colours available, each a tribute to a different mineral or natural dye.  These same hues are also brought to life in another new 2TEC2 design: Palma. This allows you to make striking combinations for visually stimulating spaces.

Functionality

Alhambra is not only aesthetic, but functional as well. This refined woven vinyl floor is easy to clean, resists heavy commercial use class 33, and reduces impact sound with 19 dB. The collection is available in both tiles and rolls, which are easy to install.

The Design Process

Sustainability

Bio-based

Not only the design, but also the material is interwoven with nature, as Alhambra is one of 2TEC2’s Bio-based collections. This means that the compound formulation to make the PVC pellets for the woven yarns contains 45% renewable plant-based carbon, replacing virgin fossil-based carbon.

Bio-based carbon is derived from materials of biological origin such as plant waste. Using Bio-based products facilitates a reduction in CO2 emissions, toxic waste, and energy and water consumption during production processes.

Designed for circularity

2TEC2 is 100% recyclable, contains recycled PET in the acoustic SonoFeltTM underlayer, and has its own recycling plant. Every day, 2TEC2 continues its journey towards more sustainable flooring options, in order to protect and preserve the world beneath our feet.
