This 5,000 SF custom home was designed for a family of five who were passionate about modern design. The architectural style of the home is modern farmhouse while the interiors blend in minimalism. The family desired an uncluttered interior with purposeful and functional elements. A modern interior with warm and inviting finishes makes the space feel comfortable and casual. Spaces in the home include five bedrooms, five and a half baths, gourmet kitchen, upstairs and downstairs living areas, sauna, recreation room, gym, office, hobby room, mudroom and a spacious master suite. A few distinguished elements of the home include a handmade oversized copper pivot entry door with patinaed finish, and the gorgeous three-story stair pendant light custom designed to fit inside the narrow staircase opening. The primary materials used are white oak, Chicago brick, hot rolled steel, quartz, natural stone, large format porcelain tiles and birch wood accents. Each area of the home was designed to have its own personality utilizing timeless materials not to overpower the space.
The Design Process
The Client’s existing home was not functional or in the design style they enjoyed. The Client decided to build a custom home in the same neighborhood that would satisfy their needs. The primary goals were that the home should have an open and airy feel with form and function a top priority. The Client enjoys clean lines, minimalistic, modern interiors with neutral colors and is not interested in trends.
