Design of Creative Advertising Agency

Nominee
The design and fit of a 10,000 square foot interactive advertising agency's offices in Central London - conceptualizing and re-modelling the reception spaces, meeting rooms, main space & creative break out zones.Anna Burles from StudioAB won the commission and the project took more than 9 and a half months to complete.Syzygy UK is situated within the RIBA award-winning Johnson Building (2006), an impressive light filled space with concrete and glass-sided bridges spanning a central atrium.THE CLIENTSSyzygy is a digital agency specialising in interactive design for global brands. Award-winning in their field, the new interior needed to be original and exciting to reflect the creative nature of the company's work. The resulting scheme is imaginative and urban - a sophisticated and inspiring space for agency staff to work and play in.THE NEW RECEPTIONThe transformation of the front of house started with demolition, removing rooms and opening up the space and flow within the agency. Reception was relocated with a new statement desk moulded from concrete. Vertical wall and door cladding was added to existing meeting rooms, with added LED illumination.COLUMN LIGHTSTailor made remote-controlled LED lighting units were created for the agency’s 24 columns. Specially produced concrete style cylinders were ceiling fixed to encircle the columns with a wash of white light and optional brand colours.NEON LIGHT INSTALLATIONSThe new design scheme is crafted from a palette of rich greys accented by brand colours via furniture and a range of custom created neon lighting installations designed to add a touch of wow for clients and visitors. The neons are reflected in the atrium windows and within the boardroom creating a kaleidoscopic effect.BOARDROOMA custom treatment was applied to the giant table in the boardroom, with sheer drapes adding softness and privacy from the overlooked atrium and balcony.CREATIVE MAIN SPACEThe existing office-issue desks were replaced with a T-shaped, modular oak bench system for the agency's creatives and technologists. Centred on each giant catwalk style bench are hanging pendants created from vintage flex with naked filament bulbs.Reclaimed brick tiles were added to the far wall, completing the atelier, loft style look, with blackboard panels to the left giving the designers a backdrop for their creative musings.CREATIVE LOUNGEJust off the main bench desk space, a new lounge 'pod' was created from two old store rooms knocked through. Having coffee in there feels a bit like hanging out in a friend's New York apartment - and this quirky space has become the most booked out spot in the agency.Styled to inspire creativity and to provide a relaxed pitch-space, as an alternative to the grown up formality of the boardroom.Vintage wire baskets were mounted on doors and walls to keep the creatives' magazine collections close to hand.Sterling board industrial style flooring has been softened by giant sheepskin rugs adding a shot of luxury and comfort. Whilstcool new Fisherman's lamps replaced overhead strip lights.
