The new outpatient tower at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), part of Rady Children’s Health, was designed with children and families in mind, combining multiple pediatric specialties in one convenient location. Bendheim’s glass solutions were incorporated to help create an environment which balances durability together with a welcoming, child-first environment.
Completed as part of CHOC’s ongoing campus expansion in Orange, Calif., the 330,000-square-foot tower has quickly become a model for family-centered outpatient care. Bendheim’s specialty glass solutions were selected when the project broke ground in 2022.
Working closely with CannonDesign and the project team, Bendheim provided a curated palette of decorative high-performance glass solutions tailored to the tower’s needs. Softly etched, mirrored SatinTech™ glass in a range of uplifting colors, deliver a sense of playfulness, helping create an inviting atmosphere for children and their families. Complementing this, back painted “River Ice” Textured Glass adds depth and a tactile richness throughout the space. The glass panels were installed with Bendheim’s Z-KISS™ cladding system, a precision-engineered system that simplifies installation and maintenance while offering a clean refined aesthetic ideal for healthcare environments.
“Our Z-KISS™ system was a natural fit for this project, its minimal hardware and clean installation allowed the glass to contribute to the overall design without adding visual distraction,” said Bendheim Vice President of Sales and Innovation Said Elieh. “It supported the team’s goal of creating a calm environment, which is especially important in a pediatric setting.”
The nine-story outpatient facility houses over 25 pediatric specialty clinics, streamlining the care experience for thousands of families across Southern California. Every design decision, from natural light strategies to thematic interiors, supports CHOC’s child-first approach.
