Omega Venetian Blinds

Platinum Award
Draper’s Omega™ Venetian Blinds are not only flexible, but also help with solar control: when proper controls are specified they use the position of the sun to set themselves to the most helpful position for the maximum energy savings. The slats can be tilted as required to provide effective solar control or can be retracted completely if there is no sun on the facade. Given the flexibility of this product it is a very good daylighting and energy conservation tool. The system is available in both manual (interior only) and motorized versions. Custom controls can also automate the deployment and retraction of the blinds as well as the tilting of the slats to allow precise energy and light management as well as glare control. The Omega™ venetian blind system has excellent view through when the slats are in the horizontal or partially tilted position and provides glare control as the slats are tilted to prevent direct sun penetration. The slats in an Omega venetian blind system are physically connected to the ladder braid using a double omega connection to ensure that the system is stable in the wind and that the slats do not flutter. Guide wires that run through all of the slats are also used on all exterior systems to prevent movement that could result in noise or damage to the system or the façade. Motorized exterior systems are equipped with an anemometer control system to automatically retract the blinds if wind speed exceeds the maximum allowable value.

Sustainability

As a US manufacturer of quality products for the architectural market for over 100 years, Draper is committed to providing products for the sustainable design market. As members of our local, state, and national community and as members of the U.S. Green Building Council, our company and our employees are continuously upgrading our facilities to be more energy efficient, and introducing “reduce, reuse and recycle” programs. We recycle over 84 tons of materials per month in nine categories. We've introduced programs for reusing wood and cardboard products, including shipping pallets and skids. This outlook extends to our products. In today’s world of conservation and rising energy costs, it is important to keep a handle on your building’s energy consumption. One of the easiest ways to do this is with the use of the sun’s natural light. Natural sunlight provides a building with free light and keeps it warm at the same time. Many studies have found that the sun’s natural light helps productivity and learning as well. At the same time, however, sunlight can overrun a facility causing problems such as high energy costs for air conditioning, eyestrain from glare on computers, hot spots in the building and lethargy in employees. Draper solar control solutions, such as the Omega, can keep out heat, and glare. The Omega is of steel and aluminum construction, and can be broken down/recycled on site. Draper accepts product back for recycling if onsite services aren't available.
