Vent-A-Hood is a family-owned business that had its beginnings in the late 1920s. The first Vent-A-Hoods were manufactured in a tin building with a dirt floor in Dallas and then sold door-to-door. The company was founded in 1933 and patented the first residential range hood in 1937 when Carr P. Collins, Sr., a Dallas financier and founder of Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company, financed the family-owned company. In 1938, Collins recruited his nephew, Miles Woodall, Jr., to manage the company. Today, Woodall's sons Miles (III) and Blake are CEO of the company and Director of Sales, respectively. The company moved to Richardson in 1961 and today Vent-A-Hood is housed in its fourth manufacturing facility, employing a highly skilled workforce that includes fourth generation employees with the company.Vent-A-Hood's signature product is its Magic Lung® centrifugal blower system that removes 99 percent of all grease, smoke and odors. The technology was patented in 1940 and today remains the quietest, most efficient and powerful way to remove cooking contaminants from the home.
