Dekton by Cosentino

Platinum Award
Dekton by Cosentino, the new ultra-compact surface with advanced technical properties for both interior and exterior design, introduces five striking new colors that highlight the beauty of natural stone. The luminary of the new color offerings is Aura – Cosentino’s interpretation of rare Italian Calacatta marble with dramatic, large-scale grey veining on a pale white background. Aura provides a stunning option for those interested in the luxurious look of marble - a trend that has shown a recent strong resurgence in the U.S. market – without the maintenance issues typically associated with natural stone.Dekton, a revolutionary material composed of glass, porcelain and quartz, was first introduced in 2013 and has since transformed the world of surfacing with a variety of new application possibilities for both the indoors and outdoors. The first new color introductions since launch, Aura, Edora, Irok, Kairos and Vegha, now bring the complete Dekton color offering to 15 hues. Each of the new colors encompasses unique design patterns and innovative techniques combined with Dekton’s superior performance and low maintenance.

Pricing

Dekton retails for $58-$96 per square foot, depending on thickness and color, at leading national retailers.

Notes

Dekton is made using a proprietary process called Particle Sintering Technology (PST), which is an accelerated version of the change that rocks and stone undergo in nature when subjected to heat and pressure over thousands of years. To manufacture Dekton, Cosentino has reduced this process to four hours with extreme heat and pressure resulting in an ultra-compact surface with superior technical characteristics. These include UV resistance for color stability outdoors, exceptional strength and high resistance to impacts, scratches and abrasion for use in high-traffic areas, and very low water absorption. Dekton’s resistance to thermal shock against heat, frost and thawing enables the product to be used in any climate, creating potential for design to flow from the indoors to outdoor spaces using one continuous product. These unique characteristics permit Dekton to be used in multiple applications including countertops, vanities, shower walls, flooring, building facades, decking, and many other architectural surfaces.Additionally, Dekton Aura replicates the elegance and beauty of Calacatta marble with large-scale veining for an impactful design statement. For the first time, Cosentino has developed a slab design with an endless symmetrical pattern. Aura can be composed so that the veining continues from one slab to the next, giving a true mirror effect known as “book-matching”. This represents a true breakthrough in the surfacing industry, offering a large-format slab with book-matching capabilities, similar to natural marble, wood or digitally printed ceramic tiles, but with the unique versatility and performance of Dekton. With these unprecedented design capabilities, Aura offers complete continuity of design in both vertical and horizontal installations, easily adapting to the customer’s preference.
