ZTSSL ¢â‚¬â€œ Soft Load Closed Transition

GE Zenith ZTSSL Series Transfer Switches combine traditional switching of the utility supply to a backup generator source with the capability for soft load transfers between the sources and continuous paralleling of the generator set to the utility supply. The ZTSSL transfers power using proven GE Zenith Closed-Transition Transfer Switches (ZTSCT). Traditional transfer switch functionally with soft load return to utilityThe ZTSSL is normally set for Automatic Mains Failures (AMF) mode. In this mode of operation, the switch will monitor the utility supply and automatically connect the load to the generator supply in the event of a utility supply outage. When utility power returns, the ZTSSL will automatically transfer the load back to the utility supply using a programmed soft transfer operation, with no block unloading of the generator set and no power quality transients inherent to traditional open or quick make-before-break closed transition switching.Continuous Utility Paralleling In continuous parallel mode the ZTSSL has the capability of connecting a generator set to the utility supply for long-term parallel operation, or transferring load seamlessly between the utility supply and the generator. The ZTSSL can be configured for either continuous base loading of the generator set or variable loading of the generator set to maintain a pre-set utility import or export kW value. The generator set can be used to supply peak loads and reduce high electrical demand charges that can occur if a facility has periods of high kW demand. The ZTSSL and generator set can also be used to supply the entire switch load, completely isolated from the utility supply, for storm anticipation or required maintenance of the utility supply equipment.
