The GE 3ARR50 Series compressor control is a combination starting device and motor protector for compressors used in refrigeration and freezer appliances. The control consists of a positive temperature coefficient resistor (PTCR) in series with the compressor motor start winding and a snap-action bimetal motor overload protector. The PTCR de-energizes the start winding after the motor is up to speed. The overload protects the compressor motor windings in the event of an overload condition. Plug-in receptacles accept a run capacitor without additional wiring connections. The control mounts directly to the compressor terminal pins, eliminates costly interconnections to a run capacitor. This device is available in six basic models to accommodate different wiring preferences and run capacitor options
