Sodalite Blue

The quarried version of this stone comes from the top of the Andes in South America. It is light to dark blue in coloration and possesses silicates of aluminum and sodium. Over 500 years ago this stone was mined by the Incas and is still popular today for making handcrafted products. Only recently has this quarried stone been extracted for slab processing. This stone was recreated as a geologic stone to increase its availability and access by eliminating its rare, cost-prohibitive status. Sodalite Blue's deeply expressive chromatic effect is well suited for both classic and contemporary environments. Available in a polished finish, Sodalite Blue possesses technical characteristics that are superior to its quarried counterpart.
