At first glance, the leather and chrome Holy Day Lounge Chair and Ottoman (2004) appear to be beautifully restored Bauhaus designs from the mid-20th century. Upon a closer look, their 21st-century nuances become obvious, revealed in their light scaling and wide, low-slung forms. Designed by Paris-based Jean-Marie Massaud, the set has a resolved fluidity that most lounge chairs and ottomans lack, appearing as one continuous form when the ottoman is pulled up to the chair. Molded fiberglass gives the lounge its undulating, body-conscious form, while a thin layer of foam padding provides added comfort. In fact, the set is comfortable enough for leisurely reading, conversing and general lounging. The rectangular shape of the Ottoman also enables its use as a side table. Commercial quality.
