70,000 SFWashington, DCGroup Goetz Architects (GGA), the Executive Architect for the new offices of Bingham McCutchen LLP, worked with Milev Architects of NYC in providing complete architecture and interior design services for Bingham's new Washington office. Working together, the firms developed initial concepts and Group Goetz executed the final design concepts through contract documents, construction administration and furniture services.The design of the space focused on a concept of a collaborative environment, visually open and filled with natural light. Unlike many traditional law firms, all offices had floor-to-ceiling glass on interior corridor walls that allowed natural light to filter into the interior spaces. The full height glass, partially patterned, provided visual privacy for the attorneys while achieving an atmosphere of openness, and visual proximity. The custom stainless steel staircase, which connects the two top floors of the building and provides a panoramic view of K Street and beyond, is, at once, a point of convergence and an opportunity to have a strong connection with the urbanscape. Office standards were provided for all spaces and the firm was able to achieve a high level of efficiency, with good business ratios of partners to associates, and secretaries to attorneys, all the while providing quality workspace. Features in the space include a Conference Center, Cafeteria, Library Resource Center, and interconnecting staircase. The Conference Center included a 170-person flexible multi-purpose room, boardroom, and other various sized conference facilities with audiovisual capabilities. The interconnecting stair provides easy access between all floors and enhances the collaboration of the facility. The full service Cafeteria provides food services for all conference facilities and attorney and staff needs.
