The client wanted a boutique salon that catered to a high-end clientele in their mid 20's-40's. They wanted a space that was clean and modern. We used a simple warm-white for the background walls, a dark floor and dark ceiling for contrast, and incorporated the copper orange from their logo as the feature colour in the hostess area. The ceiling was left exposed at the front area and a curved ceiling floats underneath at the back area. The floors were a glossy black wood finish to give it a very chic look. The client wanted their patrons to be pampered from the moment they walked in, so the front hostess desk was doubled up as a lounge bar where the patrons can be served a drink while they waited. Because of the small space, the client washroom also served as a changing area for the spa clients. Therefore, we really needed to dress this washroom up. Dark-stained wood panels were introduced with a high-back bench for changing. We wanted the washroom to feel like one from a high-end hotel. Custom mirror cutting stations were designed as a simple L-form with a radiused corner. This echoes the feature ceiling at the hostess station. The mirror units float away from the wall and have two sleek vertical strips of light within the mirrors. Simple, yet bold black and white graphics were used throughout to complement the space.
