The iconic Scoop Chair, originally designed by Milo Baughman in the early 1970s, returns with the same defining characteristics that made it a standout: a light-scale silhouette, sculptural lines, and a striking interplay of materials. The design features a polished stainless steel exterior frame paired with a gently curved upholstered shell that appears to float within it.
“The result is a chair that feels both architectural and inviting,” says Royale Wiggin, CEO of Thayer Coggin. “It’s an elegant expression of Baughman’s belief that comfort and form should work seamlessly together.”
Inside the frame, a curved plywood structure supports tightly upholstered foam-and-fiber seating, delivering a sit that is both supportive and relaxed. Signature “tootsie” roll arms and tailored welting along the outside back emphasize the chair’s thoughtful detailing and refined mid-century character.
Reintroduced for a new generation, the Scoop Chair remains a sophisticated accent for modern interiors — light in appearance, comfortable in use, and unmistakably Baughman.
