Italy is a part of Europe where the only natural wealth is the creativity of its inhabitants. Today this is expressed mainly through cooking, fashion, and the “design of objects. However: those who seem impervious to an understanding of this wealth have been and still are local politicians and administrators. If the State were to help creativity and research in an efficient way, the country would gain more economic and cultural advantages. The prestige of products that are “made in Italy is mainly due to the curiosity of Italian entrepreneurs. Today, their efforts are being diluted. Many creators, designers, architects ¦ express themselves within the traditional boundaries of form. Whereas the culture of objects and architecture have become adult forms of expression, jointly bearing witness to the essence of our time. In general, we are seeing less trends and styles, but more freshness in our technical, commercial and expressive processes and in the use of materials. Less nostalgia and undiscriminating respect for history, and more trust and curiosity in the future. Without this, our lives risk becoming saddened by repetition, monotony and the absence of the new. In our world, in this period, it is raining. Blue skies, however, will come back soon.
