We can never say no to margaritas and Mexican food so were delighted to recently design the architectural lighting scheme for Chilango – a fun, vibrant Mexican restaurant chain in the capital.Working closely with the interior designers and client we created a bold and exciting design to express the brand’s spirit and add some zest to the customer experience. The lighting may be simple and cost-effective but it complements the bright, colourful interior and oozes Latin charm.Feature pendants were used to create an ambient, relaxing atmosphere and low-energy spotlights were used for accent illumination. Bright neon signage hangs across the restaurant’s walls bringing some Mexican pizazz to the interiors.The architectural lighting solution created by Paul Nulty Lighting Design is simple and cost effective, utilising feature pendant light fixtures for ambient lighting, low-energy spotlights for accent illumination and bright neon signage for additional feature. Coupled with a lighting control system the lighting is both flexible and dynamic allowing levels of illumination to change throughout the day.The back street Mexican aesthetic, where the lighting design plays a key role in drawing attention to the bright and colourfull interior design, especially the feature graffiti walls, enhances the customers’ experience whilst enjoying authentic cuisine.
