The Objective
To create a compact, energy-efficient, and versatile refrigerator-freezer that meets the unique needs of RV travelers, marine users, and off-grid living. The goal was to deliver a built-in, space-saving design with the flexibility to switch between refrigerator and freezer modes, while maintaining quiet operation and low power consumption — even in remote locations.
The Team
A collaboration between Equator’s engineering, industrial design, and product testing teams, along with input from RV and marine specialists. This diverse team ensured that the product not only met functional performance standards but also offered practical storage solutions for real-world travel conditions.
The Solution
The result is the Equator RF 1216 — a 1.6 cu.ft convertible refrigerator-freezer designed for 12V DC and 110V AC operation. Featuring flush-mount installation, a reversible door, and removable storage components, it adapts to different environments and user needs. With low voltage protection, quiet 42 dB(A) operation, and durable interior organization, it ensures reliable cooling whether on the road, at sea, or completely off-grid.
