The Design Process
For context, an industry was born when 120-yr-old Whitney Brothers® invented furniture to support early childhood learning pedogogy and pioneered its commercial distribution.
One such pedagogy is the Reggio Emilia approach, which theorizes that a young learner's physical environment is a "third teacher" because it can influence how children learn, behave, and develop.
Over the past 40 years, the design of early learning furniture has remained fairly static. Recognizing this point as an opportunity, Whitney Brothers® conceived the elevatED™ Collection as a relevant modern interpretation of the Third Teacher.
