Romanesque architecture meets contemporary design with the Tomè tables by VittEr Design®

design Basaglia + Rota Nodari

VittEr Design®, a brand of the Filippi 1971 company, adds the Tomè collection of architectural tables, designed by the architects Basaglia + Rota Nodari, to its furnishing proposals.

Symbol of an innovative design linked to tradition, the project is inspired by the Rotonda di San Tomè, the well-known Romanesque monument in the province of Bergamo, a few kilometres from the company headquarters. A link with the territory and, more generally, with the Made in Italy value which VittEr Design® is committed to enhance.

The Tomè tables, therefore, interpret the ancient Romanesque architecture combined with the unconventional spirit of the company, giving life to a refined game of balance and volumes.

The protagonist is the sculptural base, composed of a theory of slabs that fit together creating an important volume, rigorous in the geometries and, at the same time, light, capable of giving identity and movement to the product.

This iconic structure supports the tops, defined by rounded and sinuous corners, in contrast with the clear and rational lines of the bases.

The Tomè collection offers round, square or rectangular tables, designed to be protagonists both in residential living areas and in representative offices.

Once more, VittEr® is the essential material that takes shape in the company's creations: Filippi 1971’s exclusive compact laminate is formaldehyde-free, eco-sustainable, scratch-resistant and from a 100% Italian supply chain; it offers durable, practical and easy-to-maintain antibacterial surfaces.

The material is available in different shades: from the refined marble version made with digital printing, to the more ethereal and delicate total white option, as well as the energetic selection of colors that most emphasize its "full-color" peculiarity: each layer of VittEr®, from the core to the surface, is colored and customizable in several shades in the thickness to overcome the usual look of the laminates and embrace the more advanced appearance of the solid materials.

Francesca Filippi, Project Manager of VittEr Design® says: “Going beyond the typical sinuosity of the POP collection, also designed by the architects Basaglia + Rota Nodari, the Tomè tables are their monumental and hieratic juxtaposition.

Inspired in the base by the solemn composure of the recognizable Rotonda di San Tomè - a rare example of a Romanesque church with a circular plan, the pride of our Imagna Valley - the Tomè tables represent a choice of great personality, enriched by the 100% VittEr® composition.

If the characterizing element of this collection is the base consisting of a game of joints with an ornamental and contemporary appeal, the real protagonist of this line of tables is, once again, the material they are made of. Tomè are meant for everyday life, whether they are placed in a private kitchen or in a restaurant, or used as an important desk, fully enhancing the largest rectangular size".

VittEr Design

VittEr Design® is a brand founded in Berbenno, in the Bergamo valleys, in 2019 by Filippi 1971, a company with 50 years (1971-2021) of international experience in the furniture industry and in the supply of complete kits and customized design components for campers and caravans.

With this new brand, Filippi 1971 aims to enhance and highlight their exclusive material, VittEr®, in the world of design and furniture.

VittEr® is the result of intense research and development work that lasted several years and is always evolving. It represents the new generation of compact laminate which is formaldehyde-free and antibacterial, can boast a 100% Italian supply chain, is suitable for outdoor use and for contact with food, and has been developed with the aim of promoting eco-sustainable products with a lower environmental impact.

VittEr Design® is based in the historic building of Filippi 1971 recently renovated and enlarged by the architects Basaglia + Rota Nodari in order to accommodate both realities that work in close contact with each other and with the territory. This new pole was a design challenge that the architects successfully completed, defining contemporary architecture on a pre-existing industrial building. An extension that also symbolizes the VittEr Design® mission: looking to the future without losing sight of its own history.

The success of this first collaboration led the brand to entrust Basaglia + Rota Nodari with another crucial challenge: to design the first collection of VittEr Design® furnishings, with the goal of interpreting and enhancing the characteristics of the material designed to develop innovative, ecological and recyclable products.

The first collection of POP & Déco VittEr Design® products is dedicated to residential environments, hospitality structures, healthcare and community spaces.
