Manital wins iF DESIGN AWARD 2021 with NoHAND handle

design Mario Mazzer and Giovanni Crosera

Manital, after the Good Design 2020, has once again been recognized for its “NoHAND” lever handle. The innovative model, designed by Mario Mazzer and Giovanni Crosera, has been awarded the iF DESIGN AWARD, one of the most important and prestigious design prizes in the world.

NoHAND was selected from almost 10.000 entries submitted from 52 countries, in the "Product Design" category by a jury of 98 independent experts who chose the model, which is exclusively made in Italy, for its innovative ergonomic and functional qualities; in fact, NoHAND has changed habits to help fight the spread of viruses and bacteria by developing a
new gesture to open doors.

Designed in 2020 during the lockdown, NoHAND stands out for its new approach towards the opening and closing of doors, with a new movement that involves the elbow and forearm, in order to protect our hands from contamination. A small change in habits, that collectively can have a tremendous impact on health and safety, especially in crowded public spaces where constant sanitation is nearly impossible.

Manital's President, Luigi Bigoloni, explains: «the health emergency has pushed us to try to make our contribution to society. The experience, determination, vision and resourcefulness that the whole Manital team and our collaborators put in place in the difficult months of 2020 has led to this result, of which we are proud ».

The handle's design focuses on functionality and ergonomics: a tubular shape with an upward curve and downward return that facilitates the opening and closing of doors while using only the elbow and forearm. Made of 304 stainless steel, NoHAND is a patented model offered in different finishes: satin, glossy, in white and black colors made of epoxy paint. NoHAND is also available on request in an antibacterial copper version.
