The ORwell™ system is a closed surgical waste fluid collection and disposal device created for use in surgical environments. It utilizes a single-use disposable liner in a closed system designed to protect clinicians and patients from splashes and inadvertent biohazard exposure. The single use disposal liner feature protects the patient from cross-contamination and cleanliness issues related to re-useable fluid collection systems and is designed to interface with a wall mounted docking station that automatically initiates and terminates the waste fluid disposal process. The mobile unit is designed to manage a maximum capacity of 20 liters and easy maneuverability through hallways, doorways and crowded operating rooms. An operating room nurse is the primary user during surgery while an environmental services attendant is primarily responsible for disposal. The ORwell™ fluid collection system allows the user to vary the vacuum flow depending on the needs of the procedure.
